Explore the concept of moral injury—emotional, psychological, and spiritual distress resulting from actions that violate personal values. Learn how moral injury affects military personnel, healthcare providers, and first responders, and identify strategies for healing and resilience.

Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Define moral injury and distinguish it from related concepts such as PTSD, burnout, compassion fatigue, and moral distress.
2. Identify common causes, risk factors, and signs of moral injury across a variety of populations and high-stakes professions.
3. Recognize evidence-informed approaches for assessing and supporting individuals experiencing moral injury within behavioral health settings.
4. Describe key principles of moral injury recovery, including meaning-making, moral repair, reconnection, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
5. Apply practical strategies to promote moral resilience and help prevent moral injury at the individual, team, and organizational levels.
